Todays episode: How the hell are we going to afford all this?
Well, I have a few ideas:
Venue: So i might be about to get a site in the old town district of my town, upstairs over some antique shops for about $1000, with tables and chairs included. Would have to buy/rent linens, but i have a source to buy them and could re-sell and get back most of what i paid.
Dress: I am DIY-ing my dress. i am a decent sewer, and a larger figured bride, so tough to find cheap dresses from bigger sizes, thus $100-$150 on fabric isn't bad, and it might be less than that even, which means my shoes, etc can come out of that as well.
Invites: designing and printing my own, cause im pretty crafty, and then probably hand delivering them as much as possible.
Liscense: i'm not worried about an extra $100
Officiant: Since it wont be a church wedding, and i'm in california which has very lienient guidelines about who can officiate, we are thinking of asking a friend
Alcohol: my brother works for a beer system company, and enjoys bartending, so he has volunteered to do that.
Cake: my MOH's mom has volunteered to make our cake as a wedding present.
DJ: will either hire a friends for $100, get it for free from a family friend, or use an ipod.
Food: who the hell knows.
Grooms attire: i'm letting him worry about that part.
Decorations/Centerpieces: Wedding theme will be "tie the knot" so yarn/string balls, and vases from the thrift store all painted white for centerpieces. the rest will be DIY'd as much as possible.
Flowers: i live about an hour from the wholesale flower markets in Los Angeles, and honestly, not all that important for me to have flowers.
Photographer: my fiance is a photographer, and work at a studio, and has already asked one of the other people at his studio, who will either shoot it for free, or very inexpensive.
This is just a basic outline. As i narrow things down, i will get a little closer to having the wedding of our dreams.
